XPLOR ALGARVE: Outdoor Learning, Sustainability, Wellbeing, Inclusion & Project-Based Learning

XPLOR Algarve is a dynamic and immersive training course designed for teachers and education professionals who wish to integrate outdoor learning methodologies into their daily practice.


Led by Daniela Luz, this course combines experiential pedagogy, coastal exploration and reflective practice, fully aligned with key Erasmus+ priorities: sustainability, inclusion, wellbeing, innovation and active participation.


Participants will explore how to transform natural environments into powerful learning spaces, using project-based approaches, collaborative activities and structured reflection tools. All field activities take place in some of the Algarve’s most iconic beaches, within a short distance from Ferragudo.

Monday | Indoor Session – Introduction to Outdoor Learning

  • Course presentation and objectives

Tuesday |  Field Trip 1 – Sustainability & Environmental Awareness

  • Exploration of coastal ecosystems

  • Climate education and sustainability practices

  • Inquiry-based outdoor activities
    Reflection: Integrating sustainability into teaching


Wednesday |  Field Trip 2 – Creativity & Project-Based Learning

  • Landscape as a stimulus for creativity

  • Designing project-based learning activities

  • Collaborative challenges
    Reflection: Learning through experience and creativity


Thursday |  Field Trip 3 – Wellbeing & Inclusion through Nature

  • Nature-based wellbeing strategies

  • Inclusive outdoor methodologies

  • Group dynamics and teamwork
    Journaling: Reflection and emotional awareness


Friday |  Boat Experience – Benagil Caves

  • Experiential learning at sea

  • Observation and inquiry-based tasks

  • Reflection on impactful learning environments


Saturday |  Indoor Session – Evaluation & Certification

  • Sharing learning experiences

  • Group reflection

  • Implementation planning

  • Certificate delivery

Course participants will receive training and engage in exercises designed to develop their skills as trainers. The provision of additional materials or resources will be determined based on the course structure and the instructor’s approach to meeting the learning objectives​​
