Wellbeing and positive education are essential pillars for creating resilient, inclusive and high-performing school communities. This course is designed for teachers, school leaders and education professionals who want to actively promote wellbeing at individual, classroom and whole-school levels.


Participants will explore the principles of positive education, drawing on research from positive psychology, resilience studies and social-emotional learning. The course focuses on practical strategies to improve student wellbeing, strengthen teacher resilience and foster a supportive school culture.


Special attention is given to building strong relationships, promoting mental health awareness, developing resilience skills and designing school-wide wellbeing initiatives that can be realistically implemented in different educational contexts.

Day 1 – Introduction to Positive Education

  • What is positive education? Core principles

  • Wellbeing in modern schools: challenges and opportunities

  • PERMA model and wellbeing frameworks

  • Reflection on school context and needs


Day 2 – Understanding Resilience in Schools

  • What makes schools resilient?

  • Protective and risk factors in education

  • Building resilience in students and teachers

  • Practical resilience mapping activity


Day 3 – Social-Emotional Learning and Relationships

  • Role of SEL in positive education

  • Building strong teacher-student relationships

  • Empathy and emotional connection in schools

  • Classroom-based SEL strategies


Day 4 – Teacher Wellbeing and Sustainable Practice

  • Stress, workload and emotional demands in teaching

  • Strategies for teacher self-care and balance

  • Preventing burnout in school environments

  • Daily wellbeing routines for educators


Day 5 – Creating a Positive School Climate

  • School culture and its impact on wellbeing

  • Inclusion, safety and belonging

  • Conflict prevention and restorative practices

  • Whole-school communication strategies


Day 6 – Designing a School Wellbeing Action Plan

  • From theory to implementation

  • Group work: designing wellbeing initiatives

  • Sharing best practices and feedback

  • Final reflection and course evaluation

Course participants will receive training and engage in exercises designed to develop their skills as trainers. The provision of additional materials or resources will be determined based on the course structure and the instructor’s approach to meeting the learning objectives​​
