This course is designed for teachers who are interested in incorporating 21st century skills into their classroom activities. The course aims to provide a unique and engaging way for students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills through playing board games. Participants will be introduced to a variety of board games, both traditional and modern, that can be used to foster these skills in their students. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to design their own board games that they can use in their classrooms.

This course on board games takes place in the beautiful city of Braga, in the Ludoteca Municipal, in a beautiful building with a glass roof, in the middle of nature, with centenary trees and a beautiful lake.

Learning Outcomes
Participants to the course will learn to:

  • Evaluate different board games and choose those that are most appropriate for their classroom

DAY 1

  • Introduction to 21st century skills and the role

  • of board games in developing these skills.

  • Overview of different types of board games

  • and their potential for developing 21st century

DAY 2

  • Playing and evaluating modern board games


DAY 3

  • Group work to create board games


DAY 4

  • Presentation and review of the group's board

  • games

  • Refining and improving board games and

  • lesson plans

  • Best practices for using board games in the

  • classroom


DAY 5

  • Guided cultural tour of the historic centre of

  • Porto

  • Certificate ceremony and closing remarks


DAY 6

  • Six bridge cruises – Rabelo boat

  • Portuguese culture: Port wine tasting

Course participants will receive training and engage in exercises designed to develop their skills as trainers. The provision of additional materials or resources will be determined based on the course structure and the instructor’s approach to meeting the learning objectives​​
