This course aims to provide teachers with valuable tools and strategies for enhancing student engagement, promoting critical thinking and creativity, and supplementing curriculum in a fun and interactive way through the use of board games. Participants will learn about the history and evolution of board games, as well as their educational benefits in the classroom. They will also have the opportunity to play a variety of modern board games and create their own board game based on a specific subject or topic.

Participants to the course will learn to:
Understand the history and evolution of board games
Identify the educational benefits of board games in the classroom
Connect board games to practice language skills, math skills, cooperative skills, resource management, communication skills, bluff, negotiation, history, geography, etc.

Monday:
Introduction to the course and participants
Overview of the history and evolution of board games
Discussion of the educational benefits of board games in the classroom
Tuesday:
Group work: connecting to board games. The group will play a variety of modern board games to assimilate and discuss the possibilities and power of board games. They will connect board games to practice language skills, math skills, cooperative skills, resource management, communication skills, bluff, negotiation, history, geography, etc.
Discussion of ways to incorporate board games into lesson plans and curriculum
Wednesday:
Group work: connecting to board games. The group will continue to familiarize themselves with a variety of modern board games to assimilate and discuss the possibilities and power of board games. They will connect board games to practice language skills, cooperative skills, resource management, communication skills, bluff, negotiation, history, geography, etc.
Hands-on activity: creating a board game based on a specific subject or topic
Thursday:
Hands-on activity: continue the work of creating a board game based on a specific subject or topic
Friday:
Final presentation of the board games created during the course
Evaluation and feedback on the course
Conclusion and future prospects
Saturday:
Six bridge cruises – Rabelo boat
Portuguese culture: Port wine tasting
Note: Understanding the importance of an adaptable work to the needs and profile of the groups the program might suffer some alterations.

Course participants will receive training and engage in exercises designed to develop their skills as trainers. The provision of additional materials or resources will be determined based on the course structure and the instructor’s approach to meeting the learning objectives
