INCLUDE MADEIRA is a practical training course designed to equip teachers with effective strategies to create truly inclusive classrooms where all learners can participate, progress and succeed.


The course focuses on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles, practical inclusion strategies, and classroom-based support for students with diverse needs, including attention difficulties, autism spectrum profiles and behavioural challenges.


It also integrates simple regulation and attention-support techniques to help teachers manage anxiety, engagement and classroom participation in real time.

Day 1 – Foundations of Inclusive Education (Indoor)

  • What inclusion really means in      practice

  • Barriers to learning and participation

  • Teacher mindset and inclusive responsibility

  • Overview of inclusive classroom design


Day 2 – Field Trip: Inclusion in Real Contexts (Outdoor Learning – Madeira)

  • Observation of group interaction and diversity in real environments

  • Inclusion, participation and social behaviour outside the classroom

  • Identifying barriers and access challenges in practice

  • Reflective session: linking field observations to school reality


Day 3 – Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in Practice (Indoor)

  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles

  • Multiple means of engagement, representation and expression

  • Adapting lessons for diverse learners

  • Designing inclusive learning activities


Day 4 – Special Educational Needs in the Classroom (Indoor)

  • Special Needs support strategies

  • Differentiation in mainstream classrooms

  • Classroom adjustments and scaffolding techniques

  • Supporting learning progression for all students


Day 5 – ASD, ADHD & Attention Challenges (Indoor)

  • ASD and ADHD in educational settings

  • Attention, regulation and behavioural profiles

  • Practical classroom strategies for engagement

  • Preventing exclusion through structure and predictability


Day 6 – Emotional Regulation, Inclusion & Action Planning (Indoor + Closing)

  • Social and Emotional Intelligence in inclusive classrooms

  • Managing anxiety, stress and classroom participation

  • Simple regulation tools to support learning readiness

  • Personal inclusion action plan

  • Course reflection, sharing and certification

Course participants will receive training and engage in exercises designed to develop their skills as trainers. The provision of additional materials or resources will be determined based on the course structure and the instructor’s approach to meeting the learning objectives​​
